Sauti said: Assuming the form of a golden body as bright as the rays of the sun, Gāruḍa entered with great force, like a river entering the ocean.
सौति ने कहा: सूर्य की किरणों के समान उज्ज्वल सुनहरे शरीर का रूप धारण करके, गरुड़ ने बड़ी ताकत के साथ प्रवेश किया, जैसे एक नदी समुद्र में प्रवेश करती है।

He saw a wheel near the amṛtā, with keen edges and sharp blades, revolving continuously and murderously around it.

It was blazing like the fire and the sun, a fearful instrument skilfully created by the gods to slice down those who wished to steal the somā.

The bird saw an entry through this. He made his body very small and in an instant passed through the spokes in the wheel.
पक्षी को इसके माध्यम से एक प्रवेश दिखाई दिया। उसने अपना शरीर बहुत छोटा कर लिया और एक ही पल में पहिये की तीलियों को पार कर गया।
Behind the wheel, he saw two large snakes, standing guard over the amṛtā. They blazed like flaming fire and their tongues were like lightning.
पहिये के पीछे, उसने दो बड़े साँपों को देखा, जो अमृत की रखवाली कर रहे थे। वे धधकती आग की तरह चमक रहे थे और उनकी जीभें बिजली की तरह चमक रही थीं।
Their power was immense and their faces and their eyes were fiery. They were terrible, angry and always mobile and their eyes had venom in them.
उनकी शक्ति अपार थी और उनके चेहरे और आँखें उग्र थीं। वे भयानक, गुस्सैल और हमेशा गतिशील रहने वाले थे और उनकी आँखों में ज़हर भरा हुआ था।

Their eyes did not blink and displayed rage. Anyone who was even seen by those two was instantly burnt to ashes.
उनकी आँखें नहीं झपकीं और उन्होंने क्रोध प्रदर्शित किया। उन दोनों की नजर जिस पर भी पड़ी वह तुरंत जलकर राख हो गया।
The one with the beautiful feathers instantly flung dust into their eyes and thus making them sightless he attacked them from all directions.
सुंदर पंखों वाले व्यक्ति ने तुरंत उनकी आँखों में धूल झोंक दी और इस तरह उन्हें दृष्टिहीन कर दिया और उन पर सभी दिशाओं से हमला कर दिया।

Vinatā's son, the traveller in the skies, attacked their bodies and at will tore them into shreds. Without any delay, he then went to where the somā was.
विनता के पुत्र, आकाश यात्री, ने उनके शरीर पर हमला किया और इच्छानुसार उन्हें टुकड़े-टुकड़े कर दिया। बिना किसी देरी के, वह फिर वहाँ गया जहाँ सोमा था।
Vinatā's powerful son picked up the amṛtā from where it was. The valorous one flew up into the sky, in the process shattering the instrument into pieces.
विनता के शक्तिशाली पुत्र ने अमृत को वहीं से उठा लिया जहां वह था। वह वीर आकाश में उड़ गया और इस प्रक्रिया में यंत्र के टुकड़े-टुकड़े हो गए।

अपीत्वैवामृतं पक्षी परिगृह्याशु वीर्यवान् अगच्छदपरिश्रान्त आवार्यार्कप्रभां खगः
The bird soon emerged, grasping the amṛtā, but without drinking it. He proceeded on his way, not tired at all, making the sun's radiance seem dark.
पक्षी जल्द ही अमृत को ग्रहण करके बाहर आ गया, लेकिन उसे पिए बिना। वह अपने रास्ते पर आगे बढ़ा, बिल्कुल भी नहीं थका, जिससे सूर्य की चमक अंधकारपूर्ण प्रतीत हो रही थी।
Then Vinatā's son encountered Viṣṇu in the sky. Nārāyaṇa was pleased with him at his act of self-denial...
तब विनता के पुत्र का आकाश में विष्णु से सामना हुआ। नारायण उसके आत्म-त्याग के कार्य से प्रसन्न थे...

तमुवाचाव्ययो देवो वरदोऽस्मीति खेचरम् स वव्रे तव तिष्ठेयमुपरीत्यन्तरिक्षगः
...and told the bird, "I am the god who grants boons that don't decay." The bird said, " I always wish to remain above you."
...और पक्षी से कहा, "मैं ऐसा देवता हूं जो ऐसे वरदान देता हूं जो नष्ट नहीं होते।" चिड़िया बोली, “मैं हमेशा तुम्हारे ऊपर ही रहना चाहती हूँ।”
He again told Nārāyaṇa, " I wish to be immortal, free from the decay of age, without the amṛtā."
उन्होंने फिर नारायण से कहा, "मैं अमृत के बिना, उम्र के क्षय से मुक्त होकर, अमर होना चाहता हूं।"
Having received these boons, Vinatā's son told Viṣṇu, "O illustrious one! I wish to grant you a boon too."
इन वरदानों को प्राप्त करने के बाद, विनता के पुत्र ने विष्णु से कहा, "हे महामहिम! मैं आपको भी एक वरदान देना चाहता हूँ।"
Kṛṣṇā asked for the boon that the powerful one should always be his vehicle. The illustrious god Nārāyaṇa placed the bird on his flagstaff and said, "Thus you will always be above me." The bird agreed.
कृष्ण ने वरदान माँगा कि शक्तिशाली व्यक्ति सदैव उनका वाहन बने। प्रसिद्ध भगवान नारायण ने पक्षी को अपने ध्वजदंड पर रखा और कहा, "इस प्रकार तुम हमेशा मुझसे ऊपर रहोगे।" पक्षी सहमत हो गया.
As the bird, the enemy of the gods, flew on with the amṛtā, Indra powerfully struck him with his vajra.
जैसे ही देवताओं का शत्रु पक्षी अमृत लेकर उड़ा, इंद्र ने उस पर अपने वज्र से जोरदार प्रहार किया।
Struck by the vajra, Gāruḍa, supreme among those who fly, tauntingly told Indra in a pleasant voice,
वज्र से आहत होकर उड़ने वालों में श्रेष्ठ गरुड़ ने इंद्र को ताना मारते हुए मधुर स्वर में कहा,
"I shall respect the riṣi from whose bones the vajra has been constructed. O Śatakratu! I shall respect the vajra and you too.
"मैं उन ऋषि का सम्मान करूंगा जिनकी हड्डियों से वज्र का निर्माण किया गया है। हे शतक्रतु! मैं वज्र का सम्मान करूंगा और आपका भी।

एष पत्रं त्यजाम्येकं यस्यान्तं नोपलप्स्यसे न हि वज्रनिपातेन रुजा मेऽस्ति कदाचन
I will cast off one of my feathers and you will never be able to find its ends. I have not felt the slightest pain at being struck by your vajra."
मैं अपना एक पंख उतार दूंगा और तुम कभी उसका सिरा नहीं ढूंढ पाओगे। आपके वज्र के प्रहार से मुझे तनिक भी कष्ट नहीं हुआ।”
On seeing that beautiful feather, all the beings were amazed and exclaimed, " Let this bird be called Suparṇa."
उस सुंदर पंख को देखकर सभी प्राणी आश्चर्यचकित हो गए और बोले, "इस पक्षी का नाम सुपर्ण रखा जाए।"
On seeing this marvellous act, the thousand-eyed Purandara was surprised and concluded that the bird must be a great being. He said,
इस अद्भुत कार्य को देखकर, हजार आंखों वाले पुरंदर को आश्चर्य हुआ और उन्होंने निष्कर्ष निकाला कि पक्षी एक महान प्राणी होना चाहिए। उसने कहा,
"O supreme among birds! I wish to know the extreme limits of your incomparable strength. I wish to be your eternal friend."
"हे पक्षियों में श्रेष्ठ! मैं आपकी अतुलनीय शक्ति की चरम सीमाओं को जानना चाहता हूं। मैं आपका शाश्वत मित्र बनना चाहता हूं।"
